I always have a million projects going and I’m always reading a million books at once. I try to stick with categories at least but I’m often pulled in a few different directions – who can pick just one? Here’s my (early) October book list.
Currently Reading:
Fiction – How to Become the Dark Lord and Die Trying.
Girl wakes up in a pool of water in fantasy world, old man runs up and declared the prophecies are true and she has come to save them all. But after failing and respawning in the pool 200+ times, she’s done.
Audiobook – Raybearer.
It’s fantasy YA high Court high magic type stuff and real good. I’m too verbose to tell much else! A girl desperate for family finds it but must destroy it! Whatever to do??
Non-fiction – The Black Anti-fascist Tradition.
Long but good info about how Black folks have been doing the work and even went before the UN to charge the US of genocide. Goes from enslavement to current times. I’m just after WW2. Did you know that Hitler referred to the US treatment of Indigenous and Black people in his second book as inspiration for the Holocaust? This was a freebie from Haymarket Books and is a bit of a textbook but well worth the read.
Also! Communion by bell hooks
because the vp has some weird vendetta against her. The VP has released two books with similar titles to hers. Why, weirdo? This one is about woman’s, particularly Black woman’s, search for love. She is a lesbian and speaks in huge generalities but I still keep nodding.
