Garden Update 6/6-10 Late Spring

Now the fun starts!

Heck. Frickin. Yeah.

As of last weekend all of my plants are in the ground.

We're now in the in between time.

Everything is in the ground and growing.

Weeds haven't built up yet.

Very few pests to deal with.

We're just waiting and resting for the big show!!

Soon enough I'll be harvesting and weeding. Right now I'm just SQUEEEEing over every lil blossom!!

The first bed I planted with carrots, beets, chard, callaloo, lettuce, and long beans has been producing for a bit and HOLY COW LOOKIT THE SIZE OF MY LEAF!!

Red Chard leaf compared to my hand!

4 days later....

I took those pics and started this post Friday, June 6. I realized I wasn't sure when to tell when the beets were done and a little research (seed packet style!) told me that they were ready!! This is maybe my third time attempting to grow beets and previous efforts were not successful. This was early in my work to build good soil and I think my soil was just too compacted and too clay to let them grow.

Well...

RAISED BEDS FTW!!!

As you can see, I'm wicked excited about my beets!!! I left some in to grow a bit along with the carrots. I'm hoping with all these out the way they'll have a bit more sun.

But also though, look at all this growth!!

I have baby beans and baby tomatoes (not pictured) and ripening blackberries and herbs galore.

So much excitement!!

We did have one lil bump.

An uninvited guest.

This was right in the middle of my herb garden! About 10 days ago I put on gloves and filled a spray bottle with a salt, vinegar, dish soap solution. I didn't want to over spray and there was only two small plants so I hand pulled down to the roots and poured the solution all down in the hole it came from.

It's still gone (although I found more elsewhere) and I hope it stays that way!!

I hope that in this season of excitement and movement that you are taking the time for rest and reflection. It feels like time is flying by and before we know it summer will be gone again.

Doing my May Wrap Up the other day gave me a chance to go over the month and celebrate my wins. It's so funny how things just slip away but going back through my journal at the end of the month helps me retain those memories and wrap up lose ends.

6/11/25 is the Strawberry Full Moon in Sagittarius! Hope you get to enjoy it!
